Do you need some stress relief? Man, have I been stressed out lately! I have several go-to items in my relaxation toolbox. As a result, I am able to experience quick stress relief. Let me tell you about my favorites!
I’m a huge fan of heat. For this reason, soaking in a hot bath is my number one choice when I need to relax. First , I adjust the water temperature and start running the water. I always add a couple of cups of epsom salts to enhance the relaxing effects. Next, I add several drops of lavender essential oil , increasing my level of calm. You can add any essential oil you prefer, if lavender isn’t your favorite. Turning on some relaxing music on Pandora is the final step. The combination allows me to slip into zen. Voila, stress relief!
I find guided meditation helpful when I need to get out of my own head. The Honest Guys YouTube channel has several great options. Do you need a talk down to get to sleep? Are you dealing with difficult emotions, leading to a decreased sense of well being? Do you need healing? They have videos for all of these issues. This video for Pain Relief is particularly useful for me, relaxing my mind and decreasing my pain level. As a result, I feel calmer and more comfortable in my body. Try them out, you might love it!
Exercise in mandatory for my stress relief for many reasons. First, endorphins, are produced during exercise. In other words, your body gives you a feel-good reward for moving. I take long, outdoor walks nearly every day. Next, exercise lowers levels of stress hormones cortisol and epinephrine. Furthermore, exercise gives a sense of accomplishment. This is so important when our routine activities are no longer an option. In short, sweating it out is fantastic stress relief.
